Our Ongoing Projects

A Fall Marked by Collaboration

Exciting projects are taking shape! As the school year begins, the R3USSIR team has launched a series  of meetings with partners from its various committees to work together on promising initiatives. The Training-Employement Matching and “À GO, on lit!” committees, local and regional connections with several roundtables… the past two weeks have been busy! These moments of exchange strengthen our collaboration and fuel our collective projects.

We look forward to continuing these inspiring discussions with you in the months ahead!

Employers Committed to Educational Success (ECES) in Estrie: Strengthening Employer Engagement for Student Success

The ECES movement in Estrie is currently reviewing its strategies to build closer ties with employers, gain a better understanding of their reality, and adopt a common language to strengthen their commitment to educational success. In total, nearly 70 employers in the region were consulted through focus groups, a survey, and an ideation session, in collaboration with students from the Programme d'intervention dans la communauté (PIC) at the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as the Carrefours jeunesse-emploi, which support the ECES movement at the local level.

These efforts will help identify concrete courses of action and define the priorities of the upcoming regional action plan.

Let's Elevate Our Practices

Profile of Young Workers Aged 24 and Under

The CNESST’s 2023 Portrait (in French) reveals that workers aged 24 and under experienced 10,972 workplace injuries, the lowest level in five years. Their accident rate (27.2%) is now lower than that of older workers. Nevertheless, the CNESST continues to consider them a high-risk priority group, as they are often “new workers”.

Another notable finding: the Portrait indicates a significant increase in complaints related to psychological harassment or prohibited practices.

Academos Hits the Road!

Academos is launching its 2025–2026 Tour, a series of free, interactive workshops designed to promote mentoring, self-awareness, and academic guidance. Ten high schools will be selected to host the team between November 2025 and January 2026.

Public and private schools from all regions of Quebec can apply by September 30, 2025, through Academos’ website.

Inspector Genetico: Science Exploration Workshops for Elementary and High School Students

Inspector Genetico is a project funded by the Novasciences program of the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec, as well as the Pôle Régional en Enseignement Supérieur de l’Estrie, and hosted at Bishop’s University.

The project stands out for its follow-up after the workshop: students can choose from three experiences—a scientific mentorship for a science fair project, a laboratory visit, or a “researcher for a day” immersion.

The activity is offered free of charge upon request to school service centers.

How Are Boys Doing? Is Studying Still Worth It… for Men?

A study by the Institut du Québec (in French) reveals that young men with a bachelor’s degree experience higher unemployment rates than both women and men without a diploma.

Moreover, their wage premium associated with having a degree has declined more rapidly in recent years. However, the study notes that female graduates still earn on average 9% less than their male counterparts.

Documentary L'écart silencieux: Why Girls Succeed Better in School Than Boys

Have you had the chance to watch the documentary L'écart silencieux (in French)? Discover this journey led by Marwah Rizqy, which aims to better understand why boys perform less well in school.

The documentary highlights the importance of taking early and collective action, in line with efforts to engage with young people. It also showcases inspiring initiatives such as

NICSLECTURE by COSMOSS Bas-Saint-Laurent, which encourages a love of reading among elementary school children.
