SUMMER STRATEGY: STAYING THE COURSE FOR OUR YOUTH'S SUCCESS! ☀️
|
|
Summer break feels good… but it can also weaken certain learning gains. More vulnerable youth—such as allophone students, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those with learning difficulties—may sometimes experience a “summer setback” and return to school with diminished skills.

To support educational success during the summer period, R3USSIR offers you a wide range of resources, ready-to-use tools, and fun activities. Discover everything we have to offer!

Excellent news! The project led by R3USSIR and Loisirs Fleuri-Est, which aims to better equip Sherbrooke day camp teams to welcome youth from recent immigrant backgrounds, is back this year, building on the positive outcomes previously observed.
Supported by the City of Sherbrooke for the next two years through the Sherbrooke, Welcoming Community 2026–2028 program, and enhanced by the expertise of the Service d’aide aux Néo-Canadiens (SANC), the project will provide camp staff with training, practical tools, and on-site support to strengthen inclusive practices.
The recruitment of youth from recent immigrant backgrounds will be carried out in close collaboration with the Centre de services scolaire de la Région-de-Sherbrooke (CSSRS) and the CSSRS Students’ Foundation, with support from SANC, in order to reach families who can fully benefit from the program.
This project is made possible through the financial participation of the Government of Quebec, the City of Sherbrooke, and the CSSRS Students’ Foundation. It is based on a program and materials developed by Réseau réussite Montréal, whose implementation conditions are grounded in an action-research approach led by the University of Montreal (Canada Research Chair on Schooling, Well-being, and Children’s Educational Success).
